Introducing my absolute pride and joy: Contact Point Foxglove AKA "Foxy" my California girl!
Day 1: I picked up my beautiful girl at the IAH airport. I was SO nervous waiting for her to come in! When I saw her crate being rolled out with another dog, my heart about burst. I went to her and put my fingers in her crate and she just licked me and was SOOOoooo excited. It was absolute 100% love at first sight. I let her go to the bathroom outside and she was no acting scared at all. She was very interested in the surroundings and such but she was a brave girl. On the ride home, she was extremely hyper!!!! She did not want to settle down the whole ride home.. I am guessing maybe because she had just flown in from California!! When we got home, she was attacking her braided bully stick like crazy. I started working on "sit" which she picked up fairly quickly. We had a pretty good game of tug going on. I let her play for a while, then finally went to bed.
Day 2: I had to go to work in the morning and so I let her out before I left, and then left itunes playing so she had some noise where she would not feel really lonely. I got back and played with her some. I took her to the baseball park and let her run around. We mainly just ran around and got used to be around each other. We stayed there for about an hour. We also learned about walking on the leash... big steps here..lol I took her to the feed store and let everyone see her there.. she definitely LOVES people. I also took her to Rachel's place and got her used to the agility scene. We watched the Thursday night class and she got REALLY excited when Macee (another VERY fast BC) was running and also when people cheered. Noticed that she was not very excited about other dogs barking at the moment. Handfeeding all meals and working on bonding.
Day 3: Mainly just playing around this day. Her toy drive went up a lot more today, and she is becoming more active. She got her second set of shots today and she was a very good girl at the vets office. I started her on her Interceptor as well. She is a very good girl with taking pills.
Day 4: We went to the ballpark again today and I took some pics of her. She is so much fun. We started playing fetch and more tug. She LOVES running through the clover and stuff. She started walking a lot better on the leash today. We were at the park for a good hour. I want to add that she is really bonding with me and she has a great personality. She is not a soft scared little dog, she is definitely a go getter!! I really am enjoying her.
Day 5: We went up to NTB to get my alignment checked and adjusted. We had to learn a new thing: sitting and waiting. She was not too thrilled about just sitting there with me and put up a little bit of a fuss, but she quieted down and started relaxing more. She LOVES Merrick Texas Taffy. In fact, she loves anything that is meant for her to chew on. She is a CHEWING MACHINE!!! She definitely keeps herself busy with chewing.
Day 6: We went to the ballpark again today and really did a lot of fetching. I also worked on her recall. When she would get too far away I would call for her or whistle and if she came running she had a piece off of a Merrick sausage waiting for her. It really worked great as long as there were not a LOT of distractions around. We are still trying to get more focus. Potty training is a lot better. I am learning her signals of when she needs to go or not. We are still working on a good bond, and just having fun and learning "rules of the house." I am not putting too much pressure on formal things yet as I want to get a great foundation with her.
She is doing better about learning to stay more quiet in her crate too, she is learning when to play and when to settle down. This has gone quite smoothly. I take her out and play with her and have mini fun sessions, then let her settle down for a while. She is starting to do VERY well with this and this will be great for when she is a lot bigger too. The "on/off" switch.
I am going to find a obedience for agility sort of class for her to start taking her to after the first of the year. I want to make sure she gets a great foundation and since she hasnt been formally trained and this is my first BC.. I want to make sure I do it right!!!
She is absolutely everything I wanted, she has the right personality and temperament. She is not soft and she loves to do things. We are going to have a lot of fun!
