Foxy is starting to pick up a habit of wanting to go potty in her crate if I have her crate pads in the crate with her. If I only put one crate pad down, she scratches it off to the side so it doesnt have a function. If I put 2 or 3 in there, normally the pads stay in place. However, shes been going potty at odd times in the crate fairly often with these in there. If I DONT have a crate pad in there or just one of them, any slight movement she makes while sleeping or settling herself echos in this horrendous scratching and clawing noise to the upstairs (house is a loft style so sounds carry big time here) and yes I need to get some sleep at night. So I need something that will muffle out sound as well. I dont like the thought of her lying on plastic all night either. She must be crated at night as this is a leased place. I have two options to go to that could work: Find a crate pad that will stay in place and will muffle sounds and wont be extremely lumpy so she wont feel the need to potty on it... or move her crate back upstairs beside my bed (she tended to be a bit quieter and more settled because she knew I was "watching her").
Anything out there that is "Border Collie proof"???
This is our only really difficult thing with her so far.
I measured her with a tape measure.. I think she is around 16-16.5 inches tall. I hope she grows a lot in the next few months.. I want her to be around 19.5-20 inches full grown!

I'm not familiar with "crate pads", but I wonder if rubber matting on the base of the crate might help to at least dull the sounds. The type that is sometimes used in training classes (or the thicker stuff even). Maybe if you got some cut to the exact dimensions of the crate base? Of course, this is also waterproof.
With regards to size, I just measured Ellie. Most agree that she's a particularly small Border Collie, and she measures at about 21" from floor to the top of her back. Looking at your video, I strongly suspect that Foxy is going to be like Ellie - quite small for the breed.
Forgot to add, this is the sort of matting I mean. It's stable matting:

You can just get some of those foam-like things that they use in kindergarten rooms that fit together like puzzle pieces.
Or, you could just put a couple fleece blankets down. My Ivie (6yo b/w BC) will move to the side ANYthing that I put in her crate. Some dogs just like to sleep on the hard plastic! If they prefer it...they prefer it!! Josie, on the other hand, sleeps right on top of the bed pillow I put in her crate. She's all about the comfort!! Whereas she'll sleep on the bed, and Ivie will always get off the bed as soon as she thinks I'm asleep, and head for the corner of the room to sleep on the floor on her back all twisted in the corner!
Dogs are just funny :)
I'd probably just move the crate back into my room if I was you. She'll be more comfortable near 'mom' anyway.
I bet she'll be taller than that. When Josie was 4mo she was 18.4lbs and 15.75" tall.
She is now, at 21mo, 20" tall and 30lbs.
Just to give you something to range off of!

Cheetah won't sleep on anything either, just pushes it out of the way. I thought about cutting a square of that rubber stuff they use for horse stall mats, but never got around to it.
